Spectacular scenery along the way.Several 4WD tracks over sand and rocks lead southwest off Sandy Cape Road to North Head. Main track starts just after the Sandy Cape Information Board. Spectacular scenery along the way, passing beaches and World War 2 bunkers. It is about 6km from the Sandy Cape Road turnoff to North Head. Not for the faint-hearted, and a 4WD vehicle is mandatory (forget the AWD soft off-roader). Make sure your GPS unit Trip Log is turned on, to help you navigate your way back out again! Google for detailed descriptions of the trip. This was one of the highlights of our adventure north of Perth.Alternatively, a more prudent and safer option is to sign up with the local tour operators, for a 4WD tour to Sandy Cape and North Head.Obviously, no cellphone coverage in this area.P.S. North head is an amazing area of Sandy cape. There are two old bunkers from ww2 still standing which used to house radio operators. Beautiful white beaches and amazing scenery.
