Camping ground is great, lots of trees around. Some of the ground in quite rocky and you may need a drill to get tent pegs in.The location is right on the beach just behind a dune. You can drive from the campground onto the beach.4wd tracks run up and down the coast from the camp ground and there's quite a few clearings for camping on these tracks. The tracks running north lead to a small open dune system.
Lovely place have to be very picky as to when you go as its always full of people but does mean its good nice easy getaway for the weekend from Perth! Great facilities and set up! Just keep eye on the wind and weather!
great place to get away if you like roughing it. drop toilets (smell) takes a bit to get used to, 3 stars if you think its a caravan park, 5 stars if you think its a bush camp. we enjoyed our stay, not sure on the 4 day maximum stay as there seemed to be many people staying longer. ranger or caretaker should police this better. beaches are very soft bring your A game for 4wd on the south and north beaches we rescued 4 people in 1 day, road to get there should be rougher to keep the 2wd away.
If you like cheap camping by the beach this one is for you. For $20 a night you get basic toilet facilities, beautiful beaches and total relaxation. Even an on-site coffee van. One of our favourite places to unwind and watch the sun go down. Each time we have been, we have seen different things here. The dunes are amazing and keep an eye out while climbing them. We came across a 2m python half way up one of the dunes when we were heading up to watch the sunset from the top. Nature at its best. Sandy Cape, you never disappoint! We will be back!
The toilet hand pumps need to be fixed. If you can't fix such a simple mechanism. Maybe move aside for another person who can. It's a simple job as a ranger/care taker.Don't be lazy. If I have to pay for a toilet. Maintain them please.
